VIRGO IS THE ORIGINAL sensitive instrument of the zodiac, the one that can process an ocean of data on next to no electrical current; the one that moves a mountain range with an idea; the one whose logic defies science, then creates new science (very quietly, and for its own sake).

But creativity? That is, perhaps, a sensitive spot for you. It could be that you were told you were not the creative one in the brood; it could be that so much else was available to engage your eager mind, because this is, in truth, a fascinating world. You and I both know how deeply you strive to understand how the world works.

I'm here to prepare you for a series of not-so-gradual adjustments designed by the cosmic engineers to get your creative fires burning hot and bright. The hidden creative talent you possess, and its relationship to your awesome gift for applying theory to reality, are set to burst out into the world. Most people, when hearing such news, are inclined to come back with an idea like, 'They said I couldn't make it as a writer', or 'Nobody gets paid for being a painter'. Not only are such ideas self-defeating; they are simply not true.

Here's a little story: When my friend Ginger was in school studying Communication Design, there was a department tradition of bringing in an artist from Time magazine to give a talk at the end of senior year. I wasn't there, but the theme was related to me first-hand. You are a creative person, the Time painter said, and part of how you'll use your creativity is in your actual art or design work. But the other way is by finding creative ways to apply your talent. And it will be in finding creative ways to keep your work interesting all the time.

This second aspect is the part that eludes most of our society's creative people. One may be able to conjure an entire universe on a sheet of canvas, or create a society in a book. One can master engineering, music theory, or medicine. But then we're not expected to do anything particularly creative with the talent that led to the mastery, or to find a way that's specifically interesting to us.

To the extent that you've missed this, now is the time to get to the airport and catch the next flight to where you want to be. You are nothing if not enterprising and inventive. And as the emphasis of the sky shifts into Leo and Aquarius in 2005, which lasts for the foreseeable future, this energy is going to be turned up to hot. One side of the equation, Saturn in Leo, will push out your hidden reservoir of talent and creative passion. The other, Chiron in Aquarius, will give you countless ideas for how to put that creative fire to work.

Work is the word: the entry of not one but two powerful centaur planets, Chiron and Nessus, into your 6th house of service, employment and daily activity suggest that you will, in the coming seasons, begin and largely succeed at the process of completely reinventing your working life, and what you think of as your career. It's about time. This has been a place that's been shrouded in six layers of fog for quite a long time, about which you have not been able to get a grip. But Chiron promises the awareness, the commitment and the focusing power to make some real decisions. If you're one of those Virgos who changes careers three times between your shower and breakfast, you now get a handle on your process.

If there is one thing you're going to have in abundance, it is ideas and the ability to express them. In any endeavor with which you get involved, your mind will be like an infinite resource of ideas -- if you just stop and ask. The main thing is that you begin; that you do the work regularly; that you get into good habits long before you need them.

By now, you've gotten used to the energy that's come into your relationships the past two years: something more spontaneous, challenging, direct and provocative. Something that shocks you out of your pseudo-conservatism. There is nothing happening that is so orderly and predictable as you've planned your relationships to be, but what you get in exchange is reality rather than fantasy.

What you get are relationships that are a shared opportunity to grow, and to recreate and reinvent yourself, rather than to indulge yourself or 'merge' with another. If at any time in your personal history you found yourself falling asleep at the wheel of your love affairs, you're fully aware that this is not a hallmark of the current moment -- and it won't be any time soon.

And this has everything -- everything -- to do with your work partnerships. Some of your best creative ideas are likely to come from your love partners, and some of your best love partners are likely to be found from among those with whom you work, who inspire you, or who teach you in some way. The need to make your relationships holistic; to see the all-as-one, one-in-all quality of your interactions with people, will provide you with enormous strength and a sense of stability. You are, after all, one person, not many people.

Last, a little mention of health. As a Virgo this is an area with which you're naturally concerned, and with so much activity in your 6th house, you're going to be on extra-high alert. This will be a very entertaining time for the hypochondriacs in the reading audience, but a more compelling time for those who are committed to visioning themselves healed, whole and healthy, both mentally and physically.

It's likely you've been feeling the effects of stress, of not having nearly enough fun, and of your tendency to take life very seriously. At the same time, you know that your body is not indestructible, and that you really do need to take care of yourself. Your nature in this regard is very much dictated by the patterns you create. Basically, the reason you're such a creature of habit is that it works for you. I suggest you think in every respect on the holistic level.

Consider the impact of anything on anything else; look at how your relationships affect your diet; look at how your work affects your relationships; look at how your overall state of wellbeing affects everything. Get that loop going. You will see something, you will be able to act on something with many opportunities, and in the process, you will create a way of living that can genuinely be called sane and healthy. PW
