Daily Horoscope for Friday, Nov. 17, 2006

Eric Francis
Dear Friend and Reader:

Many thanks to Yasmin Boland for inviting me to stand in for her daily column in recent weeks. Welcome to our new readers from Australia, where Yaz has apparently risen to Queen of Astrology.

Today's is the last of 15 daily editions in the maternity leave series. It's a big statement to put your horoscope readers in the hands of another writer, and I'm honored to be handed the keys to the Jaguar. Yasmin, meanwhile, has adapted well to being a mom; I only get emails from her before the birds are up.

The present edition includes the Friday daily horoscope. Friday's Planet Waves Weekly is just about a wrap, but I've decided to do the Mercury Chill and hold till Monday. This will include the fifth chapter of Scorpio solar returns.

The winged, pansexual god of fleeting things, ideas, messages and cash stations direct Saturday; Friday is a somewhat unusual day, with Mars making an exact square to Neptune and the Sun equally square to Saturn -- an exciting contrast. Exhibiting the capacity for caution is well advised, but so is pushing your imagination. Yes, it's a moment to use discernment, pay attention, and when in doubt, you can slow down the movie. But there is also a sense of daring in the air, the hint that anything is possible. That's a door.

Here's the Mars square Neptune chart for tomorrow, evening in UK and Europe, afternoon across the states, and early Saturday morning Oz.

Yours & truly,

Eric Francis

Aries (March 20-April 19)
We would do well to ask why the things that are taboo, are indeed that way. The problem with asking is that there are all kinds of taboos around it, and it's rather difficult to have an honest discussion with anyone. Part of what would come out is how powerless most people feel about sex, money and death (to name three subjects emphasised by this week's astrology). And in the world's usual convoluted style, freedom and a sense of strength comes from stepping forward and acknowledging what we think, what we feel and most of all, what we do not know.

Taurus (April 19-May 20)
To form new commitments, it's often necessary to dissolve certain others. But sometimes they melt away of their own accord, leaving you free to do what you need to do. That seems to be the case now; someone close to you is rethinking where they are in life, and where they want to be. In any event, someone who is often rather stubborn is open to change, and at the same time, you seem more willing to make room for change and progress in your own life. Take advantage of the astral weather working for you two ways, and do what you need to do, when you need to do it. You need wait for no one.

Gemini (May 20-June 21)
We know that the mind can heal the body, when we allow it to. For all our medicines, treatments, technologies and libraries full of scientific studies, it is the cooperation of the individual in the healing process that makes the process possible -- and in truth, little else is required. This same force can heal the mind. On Earth, it is rare to find someone whose mind is not divided against itself, pursuing contradictory goals. To the extent this has ever been true of you, the way is now wide open for the different aspects of yourself to melt into one fully conscious being -- if you want, and only if.

Cancer (June 21-July 22)
The reward that's coming your way is one that will require you to grow, to develop your talent, and to consciously put it to work. This is different than getting a candy bar as a child. It's not quite going to the movies. It's a little like getting into Harvard. It's the ending of something and the beginning of something else, and that beginning contains the sum total of all you've achieved, all the karma you've put into your spiritual bank account, and moreover, all you've developed within yourself as creative capacity. You are in line for the ultimate reward for putting your talents to such productive use: you get to do it a heck of a lot more.

Leo (July 22-Aug. 23)
More often than not, what troubles us most about the world has to do with something we think or feel. Time and time again we see that what we feared the most was (to borrow from one of the great American presidents) fear itself. Peace of mind has quite a bit to do with how we respond to our fear. I suggest you resolve to give fear its place in your world. If you do, you may notice that it stays where it belongs, which will allow you to feel the love, friendship and true abundance of life that is surrounding you right now.

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep. 22)
What do you know, and how do you know you know it? What you know will be shaped by what you think in advance, and also by the method you use to go about confirming your belief. What we call knowledge is often based on a prejudice or an idea we have before the fact, as is the method we use to confirm or deny that. Right now, you are working with an idea about something that is obviously important to you. But I suggest you scan through your thought process and fully assess your logic, and make sure you have your steps in the right order.

Libra (Sep. 22-Oct. 23)
You've learned so much about yourself. As Mercury changes directions in the sensitive self-esteem angle of your solar chart this weekend, I suggest you sum up this phase of your life, and ask yourself honestly: which of your doubts about yourself are working out to be true, and which are turning out to be based on some bias that you held before the fact? The thing about self-esteem is that, like self-doubt, it is a kind of bias; it's rarely based on an assessment of our growth or accomplishments. This fact will prove to be a helpful tool as the next phase of your life begins.

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22)
Sometimes the most important decisions in our lives make us. We don't always make them. There are occasions where all we need to do is be open to the necessity to choose, and then the right answer becomes apparent. This seems to be about where you are at today. I suggest you feel the power of your willingness; explore your ability to love yourself whether you are right or wrong; and most of all, I suggest you feel deeply the truth that you do have options in life, as long as you don't run from them. For Planet Earth, you are doing extremely well.

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 22)
The lights are starting to come on. I'm sure you've felt the change the past couple of days -- the sense that the hard part is over, and the promise that what has been kept from your awareness for so long will soon be showing up in a form you can perceive. What you may only vaguely feel, however, is the extent to which your life is about to transform itself, and blossom into something you have planned, dreamed of and wished for over many long years. You have not lacked optimism, willingness or determination. If anything, energy has been the issue, but not for long.

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 20)
You are a fair judge, when you want to be. You know people make mistakes, and you know they usually have not done so intentionally. But every now and then someone does something they know they really should not do. If you encounter someone who fits this description anytime soon, go gently. There is more to the story than meets the eye, and you may have additional business with this person that will be a lot easier if you don't make any accusations of bad faith. For now, chalk up everything to human error and get on with your life. Everyone will profit.

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 19)
Much of what you've learned this year is to keep an open mind about what can and what cannot come to be. The more open, the more is possible. Your professional life, in particular, is unrecognisable compared to what it was one year ago, mostly thanks to you being willing to allow the best possibilities to be real. However, there may be one place you're still holding back, and it may involve a creative project or significant romantic interest that you decided was out of the question or too remote a possibility to bother with. Funny how something can go from impossible to established reality in about 15 minutes.

Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20)
If you're under some psychic pressure right now, I suggest you identify where it's coming from. Is it an external source, or an internal one? The latter is more likely the case. The astrology of the moment suggests that you find some unusual means of expressing yourself that lets off the steam and converts it to some fun experience. For as imaginative as you are, you tend to be a cautious person. The astrology of the moment is urging you to throw some of that caution to the wind and give yourself a little more of what you want -- not just what you need.
