| PlanetWaves London, 16 July 2004 International Edition By ERIC FRANCIS COPPOLINO Hitsville, U.K.
I know the Duke of York. He writes the story of the world, and on Saturday night sautes tofu amongst men of reason where the children run wild & vote for Lincoln. Down the tracks, on the streets of this town, I read Mystic Meg at the Wet Fish and look for myself in the Mirror. People wear blinders in front of my eyes. I can hear their boots strike the wavy stones leaving a trail of sparks. They pass my bedroom window in the morning like it's the Autobahn. I smell the women as they stride along, I can't help it. There are not enough dogs here, you're lucky if you laugh or if anyone smiles, the coins weigh a ton and the blokes are all bankers. There's a brothel in every neighborhood. In this land, Venus runs naked before the Sun in ancient stone circles, I met her personally. Lingerie is the universal wedding cake frosting, but sometimes I'm stunned in the sight of headlights, eyes of a doe. There's a building with a piano up the curvy lane, where one afternoon my idols crossed the clean street to eternity. I walked there one day. It took nearly an hour, and when I arrived, the door was open & Strummer inquires: Should I stay? I know too much about islands, though you can never find out enough about any one. They never forget, and I never remember. The trick is on you, the one thing to know is that you can actually get off. Some have bridges, this one has a tunnel. It leads to another moon of Saturn, sometimes you come back. Sometimes you come home.
Planet Waves Horoscope for week beginning July 16, 2004
Aries (March 20-April 19) Count these weeks as time well spent repairing your foundations and clearing your emotions. There are at least two kinds of adventures, ones based on feeling unstable and having nothing to lose, and those based on your sense of safety. Those of the second general type await you, though to a real degree you will be testing your faith in yourself and your considerable efforts at cultivating your long-term well being. But such is generally meaningless unless it's tested, exercised and most of all enjoyed. Therefore, to find out how safe you really are, you must dare.
Taurus (April 19-May 20) Venus now crosses the Great Attractor this week for the third time in as many months, which is likely to be shaking your confidence. That, or you're seeing that there are two radically different paths from which to choose, and these to some extent represent choices not merely for where you can go in life, but options for who you can be. If you will resign yourself to the fact that you will always encounter forces in the world bigger and more powerful than yourself, you will finally discover that it's possible to have an honest relationship with them. But once again, this is a choice.
Gemini (May 20-June 21) Mercury is getting closer to the Earth every day, and this feeling of approach often comes with a touch of chaos. One way to describe this sensation is to say that you have to lose yourself to find yourself. Over the next month or two you're likely to have some misgivings, potentially serious ones, about your physical space or your location on the planet. At the moment, you are where you are, and you need to take the time now to stake out people and places of comfort in your immediate vicinity. Just know there is nothing you can cling to right now, nor is there any need to.
Cancer (June 21-July 22) This weekend's New Moon in your birth sign is an astrological workshop in how far you've come in your ability to relate to people. No relationship is perfect; some are more or less perfect than others. But what you have is the capacity to grow and adapt, and this more than anything is a distinction for which you must recognize yourself. You're at the point where you can see people's perceived weaknesses as concealing their most unique assets, and offering you unusual opportunities to relate on a deep level. Enjoy your strengths; and enjoy how aware of you people are. It's been a while since you noticed.
Leo (July 22-Aug 23) The change that seems to be happening in your outer personality or worldly affairs conceals the existence of many deeper movements that have yet to manifest. These will come to the surface over the next few weeks as the Sun transits your sign, though in all likelihood they are making themselves known. This means what you recognize through late July and early August should come as no surprise, which of course may or may not help you plan for it. The important thing is to know what you know, and to use what you know.
Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep. 22) Make sure you can tell your mountains from your molehills, and your plastic from your cash. If you are seeking information about what is true, or if you have any theories you need to test, consider your motives. You may find yourself inclined to believe something because it suits you, even though it may violate your better sense. You would be wise if, over the next few days, you reserve your opinions about subjects over which you are experiencing some inner conflict or about which you are simply not certain. Certainty will come, if you let it.
Libra (Sep. 22-Oct. 23) Let the people who love you love you, and let those who are indifferent have their way. Your chart suggests you have far too much promise to allow insecurities or the opinions of those who simply don't matter to sway you. To sum it all up, you must take the lead in every situation in your life about which you are concerned or on which you place a significant value. There are times to be passive or indecisive, and this is not one of them. Take the helm. The rewards will speak for themselves.
Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22) In situations involving authority, it's always interesting figuring out who is in charge of whom. And it is more interesting to notice why and how. Check for a situation in your life where your role as boss or superior is somehow supporting someone in a role that really works for neither of you. The situation seems to be turning parental -- actually, maternal. So you will need to decide who's mom you want to be, and why, and see if you can figure out if it's actually benefiting any one. It may well be -- just decide for yourself.
Sagittarius (Nov. 22 - Dec. 22) Do you have anything on your mind but business? God, I hope so, because your chart is pretty sexy at the moment. Sex has a truly important nourishment value for you. Not that this isn't true for everyone; we need pleasure like we need food. In your case, given your overwhelming tendency to be so focused on ideas, touching and surrender are forms of nourishment that ground you in your cells and let you feel like you belong in your skin like nothing else in the world. You are, at the moment, going through a powerful erotic regeneration. So powerful that you might want to pay extra attention to birth control.
Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 20) The moment you give someone another chance, you get another chance. Be ready to forgive your own judgments of yourself and you will find a deep sense of renewal in your most important relationships. People are willing to overlook your flaws, and they are more than willing to overlook what you think of as your flaws. But that is hardly helpful if you don't take it easy and ease off on your conscience. Keeping tab of your mistakes is useless. If you want to count, count the people who love you.
Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 19) It's always interesting when the planets pick up their tempo and things get interesting. With both Mercury and Mars in Leo, you are surely encountering some hot people, and if you're not, you just need to get out into the sunshine. I mean it. There is just too much fun to be had and I'm not talking about on the Internet. Trust me, you have done more than enough work to keep you going for a while, though it just might be someone with whom you work who is the most likely to point you to the back door. Pull it tight when you walk out and I suggest you make it a three-day weekend.
Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20) You're in one of those moments where the cosmic slot machine is about to pay off, if you haven't already noticed. The thing with luck of this kind is that it can work many ways, including within the decisions you make, your creative ideas, and in social situations. You need, however, to not think so much, and just slip into the flow with a measure of trust that what you're doing is the right thing, and if not, so what. The possibilities have an endless feel to them, particularly if you pay as much attention to the small ones as you do to the big ones.
